How Colegia Caritas Works

To join our Guild, you choose a humanitarian cause such as a food bank, poverty relief, research into a deadly disease, or whatever humanitarian cause moves you.

When you have chosen a cause to dedicate your time towards, you {form to be created} send a letter of intent to the Guild’s Council of Roses, who are tasked with evaluating these causes. They shall issue approval or disapprobation of the cause you have chosen. Presuming they approve, you are then admitted in our Guild and can begin fundraising. 

You fundraise by soliciting donations from people or organizations in your life, asking people or groups to donate directly to those causes – you are forbidden from collecting money yourself, and you are forbidden from routing these moneys through any other service (such as your local group’s exchequer). The money must go directly from the donor to the recipient cause. This is to prevent the temptation of embezzlement. 

You may not do any official fundraising at official SCA functions, as we seek not to create havoc by inadvertently violating the SCA’s 501(c)(3) status. 

You track your fundraising progress by asking your donors to send you a screenshot of the donation they’ve made. You collect and collate them, and keep them on hand to provide record to the Guild of your efforts.
